Irony
Joe Biden was in Georgia earlier this week to talk about voting rights and the filibuster. Biden cannot get his agenda passed at this time so he is getting desperate.
First on voting rights. The current bill being proposed in Congress is nothing more that a federal take over of national elections. Irony: Biden goes to a state that he won in 2020 to talk voting rights.
The president basically called half the country racist if they don’t support a change to voting rights. Interesting since he had such high praise for Robert Byrd, who was a high ranking member of the KKK. He also stated in the late 1970s that the southern part of Delaware is a part of Dixie. Irony: The Georgia voting rights law is better and has less restrictions than the voting laws in Delaware. Biden is in Georgia talking voting laws all while New York City has said that it will allow non-citizens to vote.
President Biden also spoke about ending he filibuster, but it seems only to pass voting rights legislation. Irony: Only a few month ago he said getting rid of the filibuster would “throw the entire congress into chaos.” In 2005 then Senator Joe Biden said of the filibuster that it was about “compromise and moderation.” He also said that ending the filibuster was “an example of the arrogance of power.”
Those who are opposed to these issues were compared to Jefferson Davis and Biden called it Jim Crow 2.0. Irony: Jefferson Davis was a Democrat and Jim Crow laws were enacted across the south by, you guessed it, Democrats.
The man that promised to unite the country has not for the first time divided it. This time in a temper tantrum because he cannot get one of his pet projects passed. Irony: it’s Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema, both democrats that are not willing to give up the filibuster.
I will be looking for more irony from the president in the near future.
